This Monday, January 9th, we were pleased to see talented and well-known artists at the Golden Globes ceremony. Some spilt the tea with their besties; some jumped high into the air with joy; and others, if necessary, accepted their awards. Let’s find out more about the 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards!
Learn more about what the Golden Globes are and last year’s ceremony here.
The 2024 Awards season has just started. Held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles, the Golden Globes invited one of the most popular and influential contributors to the cinematic world of the year. Everyone could see at least one of their favourite film-series representative, whether it was from Oppenheimer, Barbie, Succession, or many others.
They have got the look!
The red carpet looks did not disappoint the audience. They are of all colours, from Emma Stone’s white dress to Timothée Chalamet’s black suit. Again, the viewers could stop several A-listers such as Margot Robbie, Cillian Murphy, Meryl Streep, Oprah Winfrey, Ryan Gosling, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
And the Golden Globe goes to?
This year, Oppenheimer, Beef, and Succession were the most awarded movies or series. Oppenheimer took home five wins, among them the Best Drama Award. Oppenheimer’s director, Christopher Nolan, won the Best Director in a Film category. Succession left with four awards, one for the Best TV Series. Last on the list of the top three most awarded, Beef got three awards, one for the Best Limited TV series, anthology series, or TV movie.
They were made for… success!
The Oppenheimer, in its winning streak, was also recognized for its lead actor, Cillian Murphy, who won the Best Male Actor in a film category. Accepting the award with lipstick on his nose, he graciously thanked the “visionary director,” Chris Nolan, and all who contributed to this success. Emma Stone, competing with Margot Robbie or Jennifer Lawrence, won the “Best Female Actor in a Film—Musical or Comedy” award for her performance in “Poor Things.” But one may ask, what about Barbie? Out of nine nominations, “Barbie” won one category, „Cinematic and Box Office Achievement.”
Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of the night! This year has been filled with outstanding cinematographic masterpieces, and it is hard to choose the best one out of all of these incredibly made films or series. Now, what is left to do, is to wait for the next Golden Globes Awards in 2025!
